Storylines
A's: The A's, whose owners these days are mostly committed to securing corporate welfare for a new ballpark either in Oakland or Las Vegas, have all but guaranteed the team a last-place finish in the AL West thanks to an almost complete teardown of the roster. Gone in the name of reducing payroll to the bare minimum are Matt Olson, Matt Chapman, Chris Bassitt, and Sean Manaea. Even Bob Melvin, one of the best managers in baseball, was cut loose. Next to go could be Opening Day starter Frankie Montas.
Phillies: The Phillies continue to try to snag a postseason berth while reigning MVP Bryce Harper is still in his prime. This winter, they made notable additions like Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber. While the team defense should remain a significant shortcoming, the Phillies should also boast one of the more powerful lineups in the NL.
